Quand l’art habite le village
The village of Cuiseaux, located in Saône-et-Loire in the Burgundy region bordering Franche-Comté, is the birthplace of two internationally renowned painters, Pierre Puvis de Chavannes and Edouard Vuillard, two benevolent figures whose aura has literally transformed this town and its territory into a land of painters. Since 2012, the village has hosted the Biennale des Arts, which unites all generations of residents by involving them in the process of creating and installing works in the village’s public space. Children at school, members of several associations, the elderly at the nursing home, and the women of the village are all together, sensitized and mobilized to welcome the art that literally inhabits the village and makes society.
