When art invites itself to the domain, Chaumont-sur-Loire
A film by Gilles Coudert
(52 min. / 2019)

This film by Gilles Coudert, narrated by Charles Berling, depicts the dialogue between contemporary art and heritage fostered by the Domaine de Chaumont-sur-Loire, Centre d’Arts et de Nature, which encompasses the château and its contemporary sculpture park. We follow the artists in the process of imagining and creating their works, revealing their impressions and challenges on-site.

We also accompany members of the staff, from a guide who delights each day in strolling through the park where she works to a lecturer who invites us on a tour of the château, recounting anecdotes about the artworks in relation to the estate’s history. Chantal Colleu-Dumond, director of the Domaine, shares her observations and insights while heightening our awareness of the origins of this historical site, and of the issues involved in bringing together contemporary creation and tradition.

With the artists Tanabe Chikuunsai IV, El Anatsui, Sheila Hicks, Andy Goldsworthy, Duy Anh Nhan Duc, Eva Jospin, Nils-Udo.
