Cent One hundred and fifty students from the Ecole Nationale Supérieure of Versailles, a team of ten teaching staff, various technical services, all working together for several months on the same project led by Tadashi Kawamata, using unusual means: five thousand wooden fruit crates. Using ordinary methods for an extraordinary result: Gandamaison, a combination of fragile, transformable and transitory architectural constructions.

Gilles Coudert’s film documents the workshop led by Tadashi Kawamata and his installation at the La Maréchalerie art center. It shows the entire process by giving the floor to the different actors and puts into images the concepts that governed the content of the project by drawing a parallel with the restoration of the sculptures in the garden of the Château de Versailles.
